A Glance at Last Week

The Jaguars battled until the final whistle but came up just short in a hard-fought 21-16 road loss to Rockhurst High on Friday night. Despite being outgained on the ground, Blue Springs South matched the Hawklets' physicality and tied the game at halftime before a decisive third-quarter touchdown proved to be the difference.

After falling behind 14-0 early, the Jaguars responded with back-to-back second-quarter scores. Ki'shawn Todd-Bell broke free for a 25-yard touchdown run, and later Brody Reickard connected with Terry Sullivan on a 29-yard touchdown pass to even the score at 14-14 heading into halftime.

The game remained tight throughout the second half. Rockhurst reclaimed the lead early in the third quarter on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Cash Lewandowski to Elijah Curtis.

Offensively, Brody Reickard completed 14 of 24 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown, while Ki'Shawn Todd-Bell rushed for 68 yards and a score. Terry Sullivan hauled in three catches for 46 yards and a touchdown, and Nate Ringgenberg led the Jaguars with 53 receiving yards.

Defensively, the Jaguars were led by Prince Goldsby, who recorded a game-high 19 tackles and 4 tackles for loss. Khali Harrison added 15 tackles, while Cy Wilmes contributed 14 tackles , and a fourth-quarter safety.

The defense held Rockhurst to just 257 total yards. Although the Jaguars totaled 272 yards of offense and edged Rockhurst through the air 180-36, three turnovers proved costly in a game decided by only five points. Blue Springs South showed resilience by fighting back from a two-touchdown deficit and remained within striking distance until the final moments.
