  How It Happened

The Jaguars put together their most complete performance of the season Friday night, rolling past the Park Hill Trojans 45-14 on the road behind a balanced offensive attack and a dominant defensive effort. The win improves Blue Springs South to 3-2 on the season.

After falling behind 7-0 early in the first quarter, the Jaguars quickly responded. Josue Ayala connected on a 35-yard field goal before quarterback Brody Reickard found Jase Hardimon for a 61-yard touchdown strike to give South a 10-7 lead after the opening quarter.

The Jaguars took control in the second quarter behind the running game. Cy Wilmes punched in touchdown runs of 11 and 4 yards to extend the lead to 24-7. Park Hill answered with a late touchdown pass, but South carried a 24-14 advantage into halftime.

Blue Springs South put the game away in the third quarter. Reickard scored on a 1-yard quarterback keeper before connecting with Zae Bausby on a 10-yard touchdown pass. Hardimon added his second touchdown reception of the night, hauling in a 48-yard scoring strike from Reickard in the fourth quarter to cap the 45-14 victory.

Reickard led an explosive Jaguar offense, completing 19 of 27 passes for 293 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing score. Hardimon turned just three receptions into 110 yards and two touchdowns, while Ki’Shawn Todd-Bell eclipsed the century mark on the ground with 101 rushing yards on 14 carries. Cash Denney added 65 receiving yards, and Nate Ringgenberg hauled in six catches for 57 yards.

As a team, the offensive line let up zero sacks as the Jaguars amassed 457 total yards, including 293 through the air and 164 on the ground. South also controlled the game on third down, converting 9 of 15 opportunities (60%).

Defensively, the Jaguars were equally impressive. Prince Goldsby led the way with 10 tackles, five assists, one sack, three tackles for loss, and a forced turnover. Wilmes added a sack of his own as South held Park Hill to just 248 total yards and limited the Trojans to 1-for-8 on third down. The Jaguar defense forced two turnovers and consistently put the offense in favorable situations throughout the night.

Special teams also contributed, as Ayala scored nine points, converting all six extra points and a  35-yard field goal. He also had a pooch kick that the Jaguars recovered.

The Jaguars finished with 17 first downs and outgained the Trojans by more than 200 yards on their way to a convincing 45-14 road victory.
