Previewing Week 6: Liberty North at Blue Springs South

The Blue Springs South Jaguars enter Friday night's contest riding a wave of momentum after an impressive start to the season. Through five games, South has shown the ability to win in a variety of ways thanks to a balanced offense, an aggressive defense, and reliable special teams.

The Offense

Through five games, the Jaguars have totaled 1,745 yards of offense, averaging nearly 349 yards per game. Just as impressive, the offensive line has surrendered only seven sacks all season.

Senior quarterback Brody Reickard continues to lead the offense efficiently, completing 61.1% of his passes for 897 yards and nine touchdowns while throwing just four interceptions.

The Jaguars have also found success on the ground behind Ki'Shawn Todd-Bell, who leads the team with 385 rushing yards and five touchdowns, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. Myland Bristow has added 211 rushing yards and a touchdown, while also contributing in the passing game.

South's receiving corps has emerged as one of its biggest strengths. Jase Hardimon leads the team with 276 receiving yards and averages an explosive 27.6 yards per reception. Terry Sullivan leads the Jaguars in receiving yards per game at 53, while Nate Ringgenberg paces the team with 20 receptions. Sullivan and Ringgenberg, and Hardimon have each recorded three receiving touchdowns, providing Reickard with multiple big-play targets.

Another emerging weapon is Cash Denney, who posted four receptions for 65 yards in last week's victory over Park Hill.

The Defense

The Jaguars' defense has been one of the most disruptive units in the conference, recording 17 sacks through five games while limiting opponents to just 115.8 passing yards per game.

Leading the charge is Cy Wilmes, who tops the team with 64 total tackles and three sacks. Prince Goldsby has been a dominant force , compiling 52 tackles and a team-leading six sacks.

The Jaguars have received contributions from every level of the defense. Linebacker David Schibler has recorded 30 tackles and two tackles for loss, providing a consistent presence in the middle of the field. Austin Watson has stepped into a starting role over the past two weeks and made an immediate impact, totaling eight tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack.

Up front, defensive tackle Melvin Solomon has anchored the defensive line with 19 tackles, two sacks, and four tackles for loss. Evan Maize has also emerged as a disruptive force, recording two sacks and seven tackles for loss.

In the secondary, Derrian Williams leads the team with five pass breakups, helping limit opposing passing attacks throughout the season.  Khali Harrison has totaled 47 tackles, two tackles for loss, and two pass breakups while serving as a steady presence at safety.

Special Teams

Special teams have been another strength for South. Kicker Jose Ayala has connected on 5-of-6 field goal attempts, including a season-long 42-yard field goal, while remaining a perfect 16-for-16 on extra points. He has also recorded eight touchbacks on kickoffs this season. Cy Wilmes has placed five of his 15 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

Last Time Against The Eagles

Last season the Jaguars defeated the Eagles 49-28 in the 2025 season opener. It was the Jaguars first win against the Eagles since 2015.
